There’s something special about what happens when women adventure together. We’ve witnessed it first hand for years, and it never ceases to amaze. The deep soul connections, the shared vulnerability, and of course the moments of complete joy and freedom that we experience on each and every journey we co-create with you. So what exactly is it about being in the wild together, that makes us thrive so much? Turns out, there’s legitimate science behind it.

  1. Psychological safety in all women’s spaces.

Turns out, when you put women together away from regular society, you also remove gendered expectations and competitiveness often found in mixed settings. No pressure to ‘keep up’ or ‘play hard’. Just nurturing, play and connection. Are there challenges? Heck yeah. It wouldn’t be a Wild Women trip without some self discovery and getting out of your comfort zone. But we tackle these together; you’re only as fast as your slowest team member, remember?

  1. Increase self efficacy and self worth

According to a 2021 study in Leisure Sciences, women-only adventure programs increase self-efficacy and self-worth, especially when participants feel emotionally safe. There’s an absence of needing to ‘perform’, and instead you can show up fully as yourself. We prioritise collaboration over competition, making space for deep listening which many of us rarely experience in everyday life.

  1. Shared challenges build lasting inner strength

Whether it’s the last few kilometres on the longest hike you’ve ever done, climbing yet

another set of stairs in Nepal (if you know, you know), or experiencing wet and wild weather while camping, our trips are designed to challenge you physically and mentally to step out of your usual routine. All within a supportive environment that encourages vulnerability. The result? Developing a stronger sense of inner and outer strength that you’ll carry with you forever.

  1. The healing power of laughter and nature

Neuroscience research shows that laughter strengthens group bonds by triggering endorphins and reducing stress. So that giggle you have together on the trail? Literally medicine. Meanwhile, spending time in nature reduces stress and boost oxytocin, which also enhances bonding and connection (Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2019). The combination of both is immeasurably powerful for restoring a sense of balance and wellbeing in your life. You’re biologically thriving when on one of these trips - it’s a surprise doctors don’t prescribe them, honestly. Ha! In our dreams, right?

  1. Developing a real sense of belonging

Brene Brown’s work on vulnerability and connection emphasises that real belonging is built through shared vulnerability. Plus, 68% of women felt their most meaningful friendships were forged outdoors; especially in women-only groups (She Explores, 2022). Once again, the combination of nature, a women’s only space, and challenges that can break you wide open are proven by science to be incredible for us!

Want a little slice of this paradise? Join us on one of our upcoming trips! We’d love to have you share an epic adventure that will leave you full-hearted, recharged and ready to take on the world.
