Start & Finish location:

We will be meeting at the SeaLink ferry terminal 3 Emmett Drive, Cleveland (turn right from Middle Street into Emmett Drive look for the white and blue tower). Please note, there are 2 passenger ferries to North Stradbroke Island that depart from Toondah Harbour, the SeaLink passenger ferry terminal is the second ferry terminal. There is public parking prior to the terminal and onsite near the vehicle ferry check in office. There are also public toilets, a Departure Lounge Café and seating located at the terminal for your convenience prior to departure.

What to Pack:

  • Comfortable swimmers for surfing (something that you can dive through waves and its not going to come flying off! I find string bikinis that tie up arent the best for surfing as they come undone. It doesnt have to be a one piece, but just something well fitting and sturdy).

  • Rash shirt (board rash and sunburn is not fun!).

  • Casual summer clothes.

  • One pair of walking shoes for hiking (sneakers are fine).

  • Sunscreen/zinc, moisturiser, toiletries.

  • Beach towel. The house provides bath towels.

  • Yoga clothes/active wear.

  • A small backpack to carry your belongings in during the day.

  • Optional: BYO yoga mat if you prefer your own mat, otherwise we will provide them.

Please note, this is only an ‘example itinerary’. Given that surfing is an activity that relies heavily on weather and ocean conditions such as tides, swells and winds, our goal is to surf in the best locations and with the most optimal conditions so that you can get the most out of your surfing sesh! :)

Usually, conditions are better in the early morning. Thus, we will try to start the day in the water as early as possible. If not, we will wake up our bodies with a nice, gentle yoga flow at our beautiful beach house before heading out to explore the island!

Saturday, January 22

  • Meet at the ferry terminal (detailed above) at 10am for the 50 min ride to the island.

  • Once we arrive at Stradbroke Island we will take you to your beautiful beachfront accommodation located in the iconic Cylinder Beach. You will have time to unpack and get settled into your rooms.

  • A fresh and yummy lunch will be served at the house at around 1:00 p.m.

  • After lunch, you will have some time to rest & digest before heading out for our first SUNSET SURF SESH of the trip! Yeww!

  • We will walk down to Cylinder Beach where 2 female surf instructors will teach us about surf safety, how to pop up on the board, and how to paddle properly. Everyone will get a chance to practice on the land before heading out into the ocean.

*** Don’t be so hard on yourself, especially if you’re new to surfing. Always remember what they say: “The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun!” ;)

  • Back in the house, we will have a welcome women’s circle where we will introduce ourselves and set our intentions for the trip.

  • Dinner & tea before sleep :)

Sunday, January 23

  • Early wake up (will be aiming at around 6:30 a.m.)

  • Tea, coffee, snacks and fruits will be served for those who wish to have a little something before the morning surf.

  • SURFING TIME! Location will vary depending on the conditions. The session will go for 1.5 hours.

  • We will head back to the house for a well-deserved nourishing brekkie with sweet and salty alternatives.

  • After brekkie, we will head out to Point Lookout for a scenic walk at North Gorge, where you will be able to watch whales, dolphins, turtles and all sorts of marine life right before your eyes!

  • We will finish the walk at the Main Beach. Here, you will have time to relax, swim and snorkel in North Straddie’s crystal clear waters (or even surf if you still have the energy! :P)

  • We will head back to the house for a gentle SUNSET YOGA flow with Fernanda. Your muscles will thank you after all that paddling!

  • An assortment of herbal teas will be served after the practice. You will also have time to shower and get comfy before dinner.

  • Dinner and zzzzz…

Monday, January 24

  • Early wake up (will be aiming at around 6:30 a.m.)

  • Tea, coffee, snacks and fruits will be served for those who wish to have a little something before the morning surf.

  • SURFING TIME! Once again, location will vary depending on the conditions. The session will go for 1.5 hours.

  • Back in the house we will make healthy superfood ACAI BOWLS for brekkie! The perfect post-surf treat.

  • We will then head to the Goompi Trail, where we will join a guided tour that will teach us firsthand about the cultural significance of the Quandamooka people - North Stradbroke Island’s Traditional Owners. We will learn about Aboriginal artefacts, traditional hunting methods, bush tucker, bush medicines and traditional ochres as well as seeing the remnants of an old rock fish trap. This historical walk takes 1 hour and has stunning views of Moreton Bay and Minjerribah, also known as “island in the sun”.

  • Lunch will be served back at the house, followed by some free time to chill or explore on your own.

  • SUNSET YOGALATES (Yoga & Pilates fusion) + guided meditation. We will also learn about the practice of gratitude and how to apply it into our daily lives.

  • I know you were all waiting for this moment… it’s MOVIE NIGHT! with popcorn, yay!

  • Time to sleep, if you didn’t already with the movie :P

Tuesday, January 25

  • Wakey Wakey! Today we will start the day with a MORNING SURF YOGA FLOW. Fernanda will guide you through a sequence of movements specifically designed at improving your surfing technique. We will finish the session with some breathwork and meditation.

  • Did anyone say PANCAKES for brekkie? Yes!

  • Now it’s time to spend that energy consumption guess how? SURFING! Today it’s just us, our boards and the ocean (and dolphins if we are lucky!). Time to put into practice all that we have learned throughout the week.

  • We will have delicious, nourishing Hawaiian POKE BOWLS for lunch.

  • We will spend the afternoon chillin’ killin’ at the famous Blue Lake. It is an easy 5.2 kms hike (return) to get there. If you have had enough activity for the day, you can choose to stay resting at the house or at the beach - listen to your body!

  • Back in the house, we will have time to get ready for our last night on the island.

  • We will head into town to enjoy a fun farewell dinner and drinks. It's TACO TUESDAY! (and margaritas…!)

Wednesday, January 26

  • Early wake up (will be aiming to wake up at around 6:30 a.m., but will probably sleep in a bit if everyone is tired from the day before)

  • As always, tea, coffee, snacks and fruits will be served for those who wish to have a little something before the morning surf.

  • Best hangover cure? Vitamin Sea! Last, but not least, surf of the trip… :(

  • Back in the house, we will have a big farewell brunch and plenty of time to pack up our things before leaving the island.

  • Closing women’s circle where we will share our thoughts and feelings about the trip, our intentions and goals for the future. The aim of this practice is to bring like-minded women together in a welcoming and open-minded environment, create opportunities for personal growth as well as long-lasting friendships :)

  • We will catch the 2:00 p.m. ferry back to Cleveland where, sadly, we will have to say goodbye. Actually, it’s not a goodbye - it’s a see you later! Stay tuned for the next Wild Women Journeys’ adventures!
