Welcome to an adventure of salt, sun, and fun on the beautiful North Stradbroke Island off the coast of Queensland! Known affectionately as "Straddie" by locals, this island paradise beckons us with its untamed beauty and laid-back charm, boasting pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rugged coastline, providing the perfect backdrop for our surf and yoga retreat!

Whether you're a first-time surfer or a seasoned yogi, our trip is designed to cater to all skill levels, ensuring that everyone finds their flow both on and off the board. And what better way to learn to surf than being surrounded by encouraging, fun, like-minded women cheering each other on! If you have always dreamt of being a mermaid this is your perfect chance!

Think sunrise surf sessions, acai bowls for brekkie, yoga on the beach, watching for dolphins, and exploring the trails and lakes on the island…are you dreaming as much as we are yet?!

Experience:

This is a beginners level surf and yoga trip, you don't have to have any experience or have even tried it before! We create a super welcoming and open space for you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new with like minded girls.

Accomodation:

We will be staying in a beautiful house in Point Lookout. All the rooms are shared with the option of a twin single or shared double bed.

Start & Finish location:

We will be meeting at the SeaLink ferry terminal 3 Emmett Drive, Cleveland (turn right from Middle Street into Emmett Drive look for the white and blue tower). Please note, there are 2 passenger ferries to North Stradbroke Island that depart from Toondah Harbour, the SeaLink passenger ferry terminal is the second ferry terminal. There is public parking prior to the terminal and onsite near the vehicle ferry check in office. There are also public toilets, a Departure Lounge Café and seating located at the terminal for your convenience prior to departure.

What to Pack:

  • Comfortable swimmers for surfing (something that you can dive through waves and its not going to come flying off! I find string bikinis that tie up arent the best for surfing as they come undone. It doesnt have to be a one piece, but just something well fitting and sturdy).

  • Rash shirt (board rash and sunburn is not fun!).

  • Casual summer clothes.

  • One pair of walking shoes for hiking (sneakers are fine).

  • Sunscreen/zinc, moisturiser, toiletries.

  • Beach towel. The house provides bath towels.

  • Yoga clothes/active wear.

  • A small backpack to carry your belongings in during the day.

  • Optional: BYO yoga mat if you prefer your own mat, otherwise we will provide them.

Itinerary:

Please note, this is only an ‘example itinerary’. Given that surfing is an activity that relies heavily on weather and ocean conditions such as tides, swells and winds, our goal is to surf in the best locations and with the most optimal conditions so that you can get the most out of your surfing sesh! :)

Usually, conditions are better in the early morning. Thus, we will try to start the day in the water as early as possible. If not, we will wake up our bodies with a nice, gentle yoga flow at our beautiful beach house before heading out to explore the island!

  • We'll meet at the ferry terminal (detailed above) at 12:30pm for the 50 min ride to the island.

  • Once we arrive at Stradbroke Island we will take you to your beautiful accommodation located in Lookout Point for our 3pm checkin. You will have time to unpack and get settled into your rooms.

Everyone will get a chance to practice on the land before heading out into the ocean.  It will go for about 1.5 hours.

*** Don’t be so hard on yourself, especially if you’re new to surfing. Always remember what they say: “The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun!” ;)

  • Did anyone say PANCAKES for brekkie? Yes!

  • Now it’s time to spend that energy consumption guess how? SURFING! Today it’s just us, our boards and the ocean (and dolphins if we are lucky!). Time to put into practice all that we have learned throughout the week.

  • We will have delicious, nourishing Hawaiian POKE BOWLS for lunch.

  • We will spend the afternoon chillin’ killin’ at the famous Blue Lake. It is an easy 5.2 kms hike (return) to get there. If you have had enough activity for the day, you can choose to stay resting at the house or at the beach - listen to your body!

  • Back in the house, we have a special treat for you! A closing circle with a cacao ceremony and dance party :) Our favourite way to end the amazing week we had together!
